About Prepared Europe

A project for a more prepared Europe.

Prepared Europe is an independent, pan-European project built and managed by one person.

It began with two convictions: a belief in a stronger, more united Europe and a genuine interest in preparedness, resilience and the challenges our societies may face.

What started as a personal initiative is being developed into something with a wider ambition: a European platform for practical knowledge, preparedness and informed discussion.

Where the idea began

The idea was European from the start.

Europe has its own identity, institutions, infrastructure and way of life. Yet much of the preparedness material we encountered approached the subject from an American perspective, often assuming different homes, resources, emergency systems and everyday circumstances.

That material can still be valuable. But we saw an opportunity to build something that began with European realities rather than simply adapting advice developed elsewhere.

At the same time, our interest in preparedness was connected to a broader belief in Europe's future. We wanted to create something that could speak to Europeans across national borders, bring useful knowledge together and contribute, in its own way, to a more capable and resilient continent.

Prepared Europe grew from those two interests.

Not simply another emergency-preparedness website, but a project with a European identity of its own.

What we believe

A stronger Europe begins with capable people.

Prepared Europe is built around the belief that preparedness is not only about individual emergencies. It is also about knowledge, responsibility and the ability of people and communities to respond when circumstances change.

—01

A belief in Europe

We believe in a more united, capable and resilient Europe. A continent that understands its challenges, takes preparedness seriously and invests in the knowledge and abilities of its people.

—02

Preparedness for everyday life

Preparedness should be accessible to ordinary people, not reserved for specialists or those with extensive resources. It should work with real homes, real budgets and the responsibilities people already have.

—03

Knowledge creates capability

Being prepared is not simply about owning equipment. It is about understanding what matters, recognising dependencies, making informed decisions and preserving options when normal systems become unreliable.

Our ambition

Building something bigger than a publication.

The 72-Hour Preparedness Guide is our first step. The Prepared Europe Book is in development, and Prepared Europe Weekly is planned as a way to bring important European developments and practical perspectives together.

But our longer-term ambition goes further.

We want Prepared Europe to become a recognised independent European platform for preparedness, resilience, practical knowledge and informed discussion.

A place where people can better understand the challenges facing Europe, explore how essential systems and societies work, and find information that helps them become more prepared and capable.

We are still at the beginning. The aim is to build gradually, expanding the project's publications, resources and community while keeping its European identity and editorial standards at the centre.

Independence

European in purpose. Independent by design.

Prepared Europe is an independently developed project. It is not an institution of the European Union, a government agency or an official emergency-response service.

Our belief in a stronger and more united Europe expresses the project's perspective and ambitions. It does not imply affiliation with, endorsement by or representation of any European institution.

We aim to publish responsibly, explain the reasoning behind our guidance and remain transparent about uncertainty and the limitations of our work.

Preparedness information should help people make better decisions, but it does not replace specific instructions issued by the responsible authorities during an emergency.

A more prepared Europe starts at home.

Our wider project is taking shape. The first practical resource is already here: the free 72-Hour Preparedness Guide, created to help European households understand their dependencies and prepare for disruption.
